Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. It's a time to remember what we all have to be thankful for. But, Thanksgiving is more than just a holiday to me. It is a way of life. We should all take time to remember what we have to be grateful for, not just on Thanksgiving Day, but all year round. It is also a time to share what we have with other people---again, not just at this time of year, but all year round. :)

As a holiday, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of every November, in the United States. It became an annual celebration, beginning in 1863. As a tradition, a turkey is usually served as the main dish of a Thanksgiving meal, leading to the sometimes used name for Thanksgiving, Turkey Day. Other dishes can include stuffing, mashed potatoes w/giblet (or giblet-less) gravy, sweet potatoes/yams, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, sweet corn, and many other dishes. A pumpkin pie is also often associated with a Thanksgiving dinner. Other sweets can include pecan pie, jello salad, cakes, etc...

Thanksgiving is also celebrated in other countries, such as Canada on the second Monday of October, and in other countries in which it is not related to the United States and Canada celebrations.
