POMERANIANS

Pomeranians originated in Germany and are a part of the spitz breed, also known as German spitz. Pomeranians started out bigger in size, but as time went on, they were bred down. Now they are at about an average of 3 to 7 pounds, according to AKC standards.

Pomeranians also have two coats: an undercoat and a top coat. They also come in a variety of colors: black, tan, creme, red, orange, sable, and different combinations of these and other colors.

Pomeranians are also known for being very alert dogs. They can let their owners know if any intruders are around, but they have also been known to bark a lot for no apparent reason. Small children should be watched around these dogs as little children tend to be too rough with them.
