Thomas Mark Harmon

Thomas Mark Harmon was born on September 2, 1951 in Burbank, California. He graduated from high school in 1970 and went on to complete a two-year associate's degree at Pierce College in Los Angeles. He then transferred to the University of California in Los Angeles, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

After college, he had thoughts of going into law or advertising, but he went on to become an actor instead. He made his first TV appearance in Kellogg's Product 19 cereal commercial, alongside his father, Tom Harmon. He made his actual acting debut in a show called "Ozzie's Girls". He went on to guest star in shows such as "Adam-12", "Police Woman", "Emergency", "Laverne and Shirley", "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries", and others.

In 1980, he landed the role of of Fielding Carlisle on the primetime soap opera, "Flamingo Road". The show was cancelled after only two seasons. Upon the show's cancellation, he landed the role of Dr. Robert Caldwell on the NBC series, "St. Elsewhere", in 1983. He filled the role for three seasons.

After leaving "St. Elsewhere" in 1986, he landed two starring roles in two TV movies. One was "Prince of Bel Air" and the other was "Deliberate Stranger" in which he played serial killer, Ted Bundy. He landed many other film roles, but he eventually returned to television acting.

Upon returning to television, he landed the role of Chicago police detective, Dickie Cobb, on the NBC series, "Reasonable Doubts", and he filled the role for two seasons. He also portrayed Dr. Jack McNeill on the series, "Chicago Hope", from 1996-2000.

He is best known for his role of NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the hit CBS crime drama series, "NCIS". The role originally piloted on a two part episode of the well known military series, "JAG". Since 2008, he has been a producer and later, an executive producer on the show.

On March 21, 1987, he married actress, Pam Dawber. They have two sons: Sean Thomas Harmon (born April 25, 1988) and Ty Christian Harmon (born on June 25, 1992).
