I Dream of JeannieI Dream of Jeannie is a 1960s American sitcom with a fantasy premise. Produced by Screen Gems, it originally aired from September 1965 to May 1970 with new episodes, and September 1970 with season repeats, on NBC. The show ran for five seasons and produced 139 episodes. The first season consisted of 30 episodes, filmed in black and white, and later colorized for some broadcasts and a DVD release. The other 109 episodes were filmed in color. The show has continued to air in reruns ever since. The show starred Barbara Eden as a female genie named Jeannie, and Larry Hagman as an astronaut named Anthony Nelson, who becomes her master, with whom she falls in love and eventually marries.
I Dream of Jeannie had a premise of astronaut, Tony Nelson, finding a beautiful, blond 2000-year-old genie in a bottle, on a beach, after a space flight gone wrong that landed him on this beach. Jeannie turns out to be mischievous, a little innocent, and very much in love with her master. The only other person who knows their secret is Roger Healey (portrayed by Bill Daily), Tony's best friend and fellow astronaut. NASA psychiatrist, Dr. Alfred Bellows, is frustrated and flustered by the strange things that always seem to happen around Major Nelson, but never actually finds out what's causing them.
